Leo staggered back from the blow, too shocked to defend himself properly. He raised a hand, tenderly touching the skin under his eye and wincing when it hurt, and glanced up at Jason in disbelief.
"You hit me."
The Roman looked as stunned as he did, fist clenched in front of him like he didn't know what to do with it after that. Piper had a hand over her mouth, looking as horrified as someone forced to watch a grown man kick a puppy, and the rest of the camp was silent, staring at the scene as it played out. Well, except for cabin nine.
"What the hell is your problem?" Nyssa snapped, shoving him roughly on her way past.

She had no patience for boys.
They were loud, vulgar, and only bathed when forced. But in a small village you didn't get to choose your peers, or your potential mates. Even though it was a year or two away, she knew she'd have to get married some day, in the same way that she knew the sun would rise every morning: it wasn't something you needed to contemplate, you didn't even have to like it, it just was. Fishlegs was tolerable if boring, Tuffnut was best off totally ignored, and Snotlout was simply a pest, strutting around, always trying to touch her. She'd broken his nose more than
Darkness had descended on the island bringing with it a cold deep enough to sting bones. Snotlout's husky build didn't provide nearly enough insulation to protect against the biting chill. The dragons had already retreated back into the warmth of the island. He had walked up to the hole the Vikings had burst open earlier and peered inside, but except for the softest reddish glow, no light permeated, though he was certain he heard an inquisitive growl from the Nightmare. It was strange, but he already seemed to miss her and hoped she would come out in the morning and return to Berk with them.
Rubbing his hands on his arms he walked over to th
Six young Vikings stood on the overlook above the docks as several longboats set sail toward the horizon. Their faces were impassive as they all had at least one, if not both, parents on a vessel bound for another dangerous search for the dragons' nest. They were all twelve years old except for Snotlout who had just turned thirteen the month before and had all been deemed old enough to fend for themselves for the week or more that the older Vikings would be gone, rather than having to stay with relatives as in years past.
In quiet each one contemplated the great responsibility laid upon them and how they would strive to serve
"That's for everything else." Astrid mumbled while giving Hiccup one last look before running off.
Having reached far away from his sight, Astrid stopped in her track to catch a breather, resting her hands on her knees while swallowing everything that had happened within the past hour. The reason behind Hiccup's sudden and unrealistic success during dragon training was that he had hid and tamed his own dragon! A dragon unlike anyone she had ever seen before, filled with personality and obvious acceptance towards humans in return for Hiccup's familiarity towards it. The minute she'd met the dragons' eyes when it snuggled up to Hiccup as

HTTYD: Footprints Final Part
The moment Toothless understood what Astrid had at the back of her mind, he decided he liked her almost as much as Hiccup himself and began to nuzzle her to prove it, although the sudden move nearly made her loose her balance. But she laughed, and scratched the sensitive spot on the dragon's neck, earning an appreciative purr in return. Her fingers, although not as nimble as Hiccup's, moved in a confident way, showing no sign of either hesitation or fear, and when they eventually stopped dancing across his black scales and she asked him if he was ready to play his part, he stamped his front paws on the wooden floor in anticipation, his tail h
For the life of her, Astrid couldn't remember the last time she'd felt this…lonely. It definitely wasn't the kind of merciless and terrible loneliness Hiccup used to endure for years. No. It was the bitter and sarcastic loneliness one could feel when something highly improbable and extremely unpleasant happened and when the only thought that came to mind seemed to be an existential question.
Why me?
Astrid sighed angrily for the umpteenth time that day, cursing the Gods under her breath as she tried at all costs to avoid looking at Snotlout – and failing epically- who was currently busy trying to make it clear that he really coul
If there was one thing Astrid completely and utterly hated above all, it was feeling powerless in front of any given situation. Every single Viking on Berk knew that. And, by all the gods and goddesses who lived in Asgard, the situation Astrid was facing right now was no exception to that rule. There were signs that proved it, and the main one was the absence of any living being within a five hundred meters radius a distance that was deemed safe enough to be sure you would not unfortunately end up falling flat on your face with one of the fair-haired Viking's infamous axes stuck between your shoulder blades.
And to think the day had ac
